Ninjas, Trip Day, and Mark’s Birthday!

Posted by on July 13, 2017

Yesterday, we welcomed three celebrity guests to Micah! American Ninja Warriors Jon “the Giant” Alexis, Jr., Jesse “Flex” Labrek, and Chris DiGangi were at Micah for the day. They spent time working with campers at our own Ninja Warrior course, as well as our Ropes Course. We all stayed in the Dining Hall a little longer than usual after lunch to watch some clips of the previous night’s episode of American Ninja Warrior, where all three of our guests were competing for a chance to qualify for the next round. The Dining Hall erupted in cheers as each of them were seen on the big screen. They took some time to answer questions from campers and staff, sign autographs, and pose for pictures. We’re always so grateful when our Ninja friends come by to visit and to inspire our campers with their strength and determination. We’ll be following their progress throughout this season of the show!

Today marked our first official trip day of the season.  After our annual Dunkin Donut breakfast in honor of Mark’s birthday, campers slathered on sunscreen, filled up their water bottles, and piled onto buses to enjoy some fun outside of camp. Summits headed to Portland for some local sightseeing and shopping followed by bowling. Timbers enjoyed some fun in the sun at Scarborough Beach while our Prowlers channeled their inner daredevil and experienced hill tubing and mini golf at Seacoast Adventure.  Critters had loads of “fun” at Funtown where they enjoyed rides, games, and some yummy treats!  Everyone had a blast and came back recharged and ready to celebrate our favorite director, Mark Lipof’s, birthday.

For tonight’s special birthday entertainment, campers enjoyed the talents of Ronny Romm, a seasoned hypnotist, following our black and white hypnotic theme dinner. Staff and campers’ bellies were aching from all the laughter as they watched counselors, CITs, and Summits entranced by Ronny. It was certainly a night we won’t forget!

Goodnight Bridgton and Sebago!
